			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Mass Games, or <a title="Arirang Festival" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arirang_Festival" target="_blank">Arirang Festival</a>, is a yearly gymnastic spectacle held in North Korea. The festival consists of perfectly choreographed gymnastics, dancing, singing and a heavy dose of propaganda.</p>
<p>The human billboard paintings are perhaps the most impressive. These billboards are created by around 30.000 school children holding colored papers up in the air<em>. </em></p>
<p>German film director and photographer Werner Kranwetvogel recently released a photo book celebrating these human billboards called <a href="http://www.anightinpyongyang.com/" target="_blank">A Night in Pyongyang</a>.</p>

<p>18 local artists were selected for the exhibition, stepping out of the gallery space and into the inner city streets of Cape Town and the nearby township of Khayelitsha. The work was turned into large scale wheat pastes and was pasted around Khayelitsha and the inner city of Cape Town.</p>
<p>The aim was spreading the art into the different cultures and allowing the greater community access.</p>

<p>Alejandro Cartagena seeks a new way in which the subject of urban growth can be addressed and photographically represented and captures both the destruction that rapid urbanization has imposed on the landscape and the phenomenon of densely packed housing. The photos show a global issue from a local perspective.</p>

<p>All Made a Mano products are worked, glazed, and embellished entirely by hand with influences from Arabic, Japanese, and African motifs.</p>
<p>The materials are natural lavastone and terracotta from Mount Etna in Sicily, the oldest recorded active volcano in the world.</p>
